Logo for the Year of Adolf Dobriansky was presented in Presov

Today, 28 December 2016, at 11 AM the Round Circle of Rusyns in Slovakia convoked a press conference in the Slovenský syndikát novinárov building. The head of the Rusyn platform, Milan Pilip together with a press representative, Peter Medvid, acquianted the Slovak media with a logo that will be a media image of the Year of Adolf Dobriansky.

The Circle decided on announcing the jubilee year at their 18th meeting that took place in Presov on 2 April 2016. In 2017 Rusyns will recall the 200th birth anniversary of an eminent Rusyn national awakener, Adolf Dobriansky who was the first deputy in the Hungarian sejm (Vyshne Uhorsko) where he defended rights of Rusyns and Slovakians. The evidence for his friendly attitute towards Rusyns is the fact that he was one of the founding members of the Matica Slovenska.

Within the jubilee year, the Circle plans to organize some activities that would spread information about the historically eminent person among Rusyns, partially also in Slovak environment. The Rusyn platform will also coordinate activities that aim to renovate the family home of A. Dobriansky – an old parish building in Rudlov village.

The platform plans to organize the events dedicated to Dobrianskyj in the family village of Rudlov, in Certizne village where he was buried, together with Matica Slovenska in Presov where the conference would take place that aims to concern different aspects of the person of Adolf Dobriansky.

The Circle appealed not only to the membership organizations, but also the other ones, to villages that organize cultural events or other activities, in order to make them aware that 2017 is a jubilee year and the events should be dedicated to Dobriansky. On this occasion, Alexander Duchnovic’s Theatre in Presov will restore their play by a contemporary Slovak playwright Karol Horak, entitled Adolf Ivanovich Dobrianskyj.

On the occasion of the jubilee year, the Circle ordered also a logo that would be the media image of the Year of Adolf Dobriansky. The logo’s author is a young Presovian producer and graphic designer, Dominik Biros, he designed the logo and the design manual.

The foundation is a blue logo on a white background. There are also other ideas and black and white version. The logo contains the greatest portraits of Dobriansky with the years 1817 and 2017 (date of birth and date of jubilee) and inscriptions in Rusyn and Slovak: Year of Adolf Dobriansky – Rok Adolfa Dobrianskeho.

The logo will be available for all the members of the Round Circle of Rusyns in Slovakia so that they can use it on the occasion of events organized by them, or when printing the logo in a periodical or non-periodical press etc. The logo will be also used by other organizations who will be interested in this and who will use also the design manual.
