Lemko caroling at the Kraków Main Square

As our fans probably know, Ruska Bursa Association in Gorlice organizes a Review of Caroling Groups every year. Mostly teachers from schools of the Gorlice County are invited (although not only, everyone can sign up with their group) where Lemko language is taught, in order to present Christmas repertoire, i.e. the famous Vertep with their students.

This year the situation is untypical, though. Our small artists go with Lemko caroling to Kraków. Ruska Bursa Association got an invitation from the Kraków Generative Service Concern “Artim”, the main scope of which covers: organization of trade fair, kermesses, open-air events, hiring trade fair equipment together with the service, hiring tents, external advertisements. The events organized by “Artim” are accompanied by artistic performances that aim to support authentic non-professional ensembles, particularly those that present the traditional folklore of the region, folk customs, as well as youth and children ensembles. The event will take place on 3 January 2017 at 1 PM, it will start with a festive parade of Lemko carollers through the Main Square in Kraków, then the groups (seven of them this year) will present themselves on a stage.

We cannot wait for this trip. It is a great success that our minority, as the only one, will be able to present our the culture to the inhabitants of Kraków. Of course, the whole artistic part will be in Lemko. We hope that Kraków inhabitants will take our actors in in a positive and warm way. Children and youth from kindergarten, primary school, middle school and high school will present themselves.
