“From the Lemko archive” – Mikołaj Jurkowski – Thursday, 8:30PM

Mikołaj Jurkowski comes from Radocyna. Nowadays a little bit forgotten – he was the teacher in Skwirtne village, Lemkovyna. The alumnus of Ruska Bursa in Gorlice (and simultaneously friend of Symeon Pyrz and PhD Dymytr Sobin) Mikołaj Jurkowski, as a social activist, did not only teach children at school but also founded reading rooms, cooperation and amateur theatre circles, includnig the one in Uście Ruskie. For the work and contribution that he dedicated to Lemkos, he suffered much during the First and Second World Wars.
