The Slovak National Museum – Museum of Rusyn culture in Presov invites for an event entitled “Christmas traditions of Rusyns.” It will take place on 15th December 2016 in the museum building, Masarikova street 20, start at 4 PM.
“The Museum in Presov has been organizing the event recurrently, it aims to present some Rusyn Christmas customs and traditons from different regions of the North-East Slovakia. The event will be accompanied by a performance of a folk group Michalivsky Heligonkary from Michalovce, brothers Simon, Matej and Philip Gerekovy from Svidnik, students of Folk school in Presov under the conduct of Yana Lubimova, Peter and Gabika Kundratovy from Bajerovce,” as the museum informs.
The spoken word, singing carols and recalling the past will be accompanied by some traditional Christmas dishes made according to Rusyn recipes. The exhibition will present artefacts from a collection fund of the museum and it will be completed by further items. Even the christmas tree will not be lacking.
