As the Association for Development of the Museum of Lemko Culture in Zyndranowa announced on their Facebook fanpage, during the night of 17/18 January 2017, a burglary took place in one of the buildings that constitutes the museum complex. Anonymous perpetrators damaged the iron bars, padlocks and then wrecked the room where souvenirs from the I and II WW and the Battle of Dukla were stored (Zyndranowa, as well as the nearby Rusyn territories are famous for the battle). The thieves stole among others army uniforms, helmets, elements of military weapon, bayonets, buckles for belts and other exhibits. Apart from robbery – as visible on the photographies below – showcases were smashed. As for today, the precise loss has not been estimated.
The Museum of Lemko Culture in Zyndranowa appeals to the village’s inhabitants, but also to anyone who could have noticed anything connected to the thieves during the night, to report them to the museum’s custodians or to the Police.
