Next Thursday, 27 October 2016, the Carpatho-Rusyn Society from the USA is travelling to Seattle, Washington. The aim of the visit will be an attempt to make contact with the local Rusyns, as well as the people who recognize any connections with their Carpathian background.
The organizers are pleased to invite anyone who has the need to get to know the history of Carpathian Rusyns, their language, culture and the area of historical settlement. The first meeting within the visit in Seattle will take place in one of the restaurants. The reason for this is an ethnic journey that has been planned – a journey through the dishes that our ancestors used to eat most frequently. Such a meeting, by one table, will enable to get to know one another better, it will also enable to talk on different topics in an informal way. Further, the organizers ask that everybody bring some artefact or a story that would express their Rusyn connections the most accurately.
The Carpatho-Rusyn Society, as the meeting’s organizer and initiator, intends to organize further events of this kind in Seattle. The meetings would take place during a year and the conceptions would be various, starting from programmes dedicated to movies on Rusyn themes, lectures, music, dance, painting Easter eggs and others. The address of the first meeting is: Sebi’s Polish Bistro, 3242 Eastlake Ave E, Seattle, WA 98102.
