You are invited to see the first part of photos from the 3rd edition of a camp for children and youth, entitled: How did our ancestors live?, organized by the Ruska Bursa Association at the Lemko Educational Farm Camp in Gładyszów/Gladyshiv. The camp has been going on from 13-19 July 2016.
As you can see in the photos, the participants have already dealt with many aspects of the former life in the country. They got to know (by the smell) how to differentiate between various types of herbs and grains that grow in the Lemkovyna region. They got to know how to make canvas – starting from planting linen, through the whole processing including weaving and spinning, finishing with discussion on the whole Lemko outfit.
During the first days of the camp, they could also “try” the life on farm – they could learn how to scythe, tie sheaves, flail, clear the grain, thresh it with horse mill. And this is not the end of the camp, yet. This year’s group consists of children from the Western Lands and the locals, from Lemkovyna. The instructors are Vanio and Danuta Dziubyna and the classes on Lemko language and culture are taken by Barbara Duć – a Lemko language teacher.
